WHAT IS THE BIKESHARE HELMET?
A simple unisex style bike helmet designed specifically to integrate with the growing bike share community
Made from recycled and compostable porous materials, the BikeShare helmet is lightweight, shock-resistant, and easily portable.
WHAT WE DID FOR THE PROJECT
Product Design & Sustainable Materials
The BikeShare Helmet uses a recycled aluminum foam shell which lightweight, absorbs impact and is easily recyclable. The helmet’s lining is made from sustainably grown, FSC-Certified, compostable cork that provides maximum protection yet minimal bulk and weight.
Circular Economy Model
The two factors upon which the Circular Economy is based, the Biological and the Technical Cycle, were thoroughly assessed throughout the design and conceptualization processes.
Business Model
We also developed the model by which it would seamlessly integrate into private and governmental bike share systems, socially and financially benefiting all parties.
Awards & Press
As the winners of several competitions, our design, model and its sustainably circular nature caught the attention of multiple journals.
